Scientific Advisory Committee Member

Dr. Lorena Braid is a prominent scientist in the field of mesenchymal stromal cell biology, holding a PhD in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at Simon Fraser University and is the Canada Research Chair in Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Biology. Her research focuses on understanding how mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) function, adapt to stress, and contribute to tissue regeneration and immune modulation. By identifying biomarkers and characterizing MSCs, Dr. Braid aims to develop new treatments for autoimmune and age-related diseases.

Her work at the Braid Lab emphasizes translating fundamental discoveries into clinical applications, particularly in developing next-generation cell therapies. She collaborates across academia, industry, and government to advance MSC therapies, making strides in improving their clinical efficacy and regulatory approval processes. Dr. Braid’s research is paving the way for innovative solutions in regenerative medicine, especially in combating diseases associated with aging and immune dysfunction.
